mission and vision
Open Television (OTV) is a nonprofit streaming platform and media incubator dedicated to transforming the future of media through intersectional storytelling, artist care, and community-driven innovation. Founded on the belief that representation alone is not enough, OTV builds the infrastructure for artists to create, distribute, and sustain their work—outside of traditional systems that often exclude them.
Programs like Brave Futures embody OTV’s mission by decentralizing access to production and exhibition—empowering artists from across the world to tell stories rooted in their lived experience. These initiatives challenge the dominance of mainstream media by cultivating local ecosystems of care and collaboration, while connecting them to a global network of filmmakers, activists, and technologists.
In an era defined by consolidation and control, OTV remains committed to building a media landscape that is plural, participatory, and powered by the people—where brave, intersectional storytelling shapes not just screens, but the societies we imagine together.
